Bodnant Garden is one of the finest gardens in the world known not only for its magnificent collections of Rhododendrons, Camellias and Magnolias but also for its idyllic setting above the River Conwy with extensive views over Snowdonia. This 32-ha garden has many interesting features including the Terrace Gardens, a series of five terraces including the Lily Terrace, flanked on either side by two magnificent cedars; the curved pergola covered with many climbing plants including Jasmine, Clematis and Roses, and the graceful Canal Terrace with its Pin Mill. The lower part of the garden, known as "The Dell", is a tranquil place of natural beauty formed by the valley of the River Hiraethlyn, and features the Pinetum and Wild Garden. Visit in early spring and be rewarded by the sight of carpets of golden Daffodils and other spring bulbs, as well as beautiful blooms of the Magnolias, Camellias and flowering cherries.   The spectacular rhododendrons and azaleas will delight from mid April until late May, whilst the famous Laburnum Arch is an overwhelming mass of yellow blooms from mid May to mid June. The herbaceous borders, roses, hydrangeas, clematis and water lilies flower from the middle of June until September. An October visit is very worthwhile for the spectacular autumn colours. Bodnant holds the National Collections of Rhododendrons, Magnolias, Euchryphias and Embothriums. Magnificent 200-year-old trees abound, including Sequoia sempervirens (Giant Redwood). The vast collection of plants in both the formal and informal sections of the garden ensures colour and interest at all times. The Garden is open from mid-March to early November and the Pavilion Tearoom (serving teas/coffees and light lunches) is open from mid-March until Christmas.
