She designed trays for many notable institutions including Chatsworth, for whom she produced many designs, the Scottish National Trust, Kew Gardens, Bodnant Garden and the New York Botanical Gardens.

Her trays are collectors' items in many parts of the world.

The main source of inspiration for her paintings, were roses which she grew herself at home in Staffordshire. It was here that she helped her sculptor husband, the late Arnold Machin R.A., to create his celebrated garden.

The Bodnant tray was commissioned in 2000 and is exclusive to Bodnant. It was painted following a visit by Patricia to Bodnant, one late spring day.

Patricia Machin died in 2002, aged 82.
